LSRs

The /accounts/{accountId}/lsrorders endpoint is used to create, modify, and monitor API requests to port local telephone numbers away from the Bandwidth network. (Note: This API cannot be used to port out toll free telephone numbers, which still require a Ticket./) This API call is intended for use by carriers that want to automate the "Port-out" process with Bandwidth, rather than manually request the "port-out" of telephone numbers via the Bandwidth App or a Ticket.

Because the /accounts/{accountId}/lsrorders API is asynchronous, it uses the Bandwidth order model.

In this case a POST is made to the /accounts/{accountId}/lsrorders resource that describes the request to port out the numbers. If the POST has no syntactic errors, such as a telephone number with less than 10 digits, an order-id will be returned that is used to monitor and manage the port-out request. The POST returns a payload that reflects the request, and includes the order-id, as well as a Location header that contains a valid GET API call that can be used to retrieve the current state of the LSR / Port-out request.

A complete list of payload elements for the POST request can be found in the API reference, but in summary the LSR request includes:

  • a list of non toll free telephone numbers to be ported out of Bandwidth
  • information about the subscriber
  • tracking information such as a PON and a Customer Order ID
  • winning carrier information such as the SPID
  • requested FOC date

This API supports the GET operation for retrieving order detail and status information, POST for creating a new LSR Order, and PUT for changing the details of an LSR that is in progress.

An LSR order may be in one of the following states:

  • PENDING - you may see this state briefly if the account from which the telephone number is being ported out is still validating the port-out
  • FOC - a date by which the port-out can complete has been agreed upon
  • EXCEPTION - the port-out has a problem or has been disputed by the losing provider. The order can be updated using the PUT operation to supply or correct the information being requested by the losing provider.
  • COMPLETE - the port-out is complete and the telephone numbers have been removed from the losing Bandwidth account
  • CANCELLED - the LSR order has been cancelled. This is a terminal state for the order, meaning the order would have to be resubmitted.
  • PARTIAL - some, but not all of the telephone numbers in the LSR order have been ported out.
  • FAILED - the LSR order has failed and none of the telephone numbers have been ported out. This is a terminal state for the order, meaning the order would have to be resubmitted.

The losing provider is restricted to a very specific number of reasons to dispute a port-out. The following errors will place the LSR order into the EXCEPTION state:

CodeDescription
7510Required Account Code missing
7511Invalid Account Code
7512Required PIN missing
7513PIN Invalid
7514Required ZIP Code missing
7515Invalid ZIP Code
7519Customer info does not match
7598Invalid Request

The following errors will cancel the LSR order. Bandwidth does not support updating of the telephone number list after an order has been submitted. So if there are problems with the telephone numbers, the order is automatically cancelled and must be resubmitted with updated telephone numbers.

CodeDescription
7516Telephone Number not recognized or invalid for this account
7517Too many Telephone numbers in this request
7518Telephone Number Not Active

Otherwise, the LSR order should succeed. The losing provider is prohibited by the FCC from preventing the port-out except for one of the reasons above.
