Overview
To take full advantage of the new features and improvements in Bandwidth's Universal Platform, you will need to upgrade your existing Bandwidth account. Please contact your account rep to best understand if now is the right time to upgrade to Bandwidth's Universal Platform.
The guides in this section will walk you through the steps to upgrade your account. We have identified four pathways to upgrade.
New Bandwidth Customers
New customers will be onboarded directly to the Universal Platform. All requests for number and account provisioning should be made to the v2 APIs (https://api.bandwidth.com/api/v2/...).
New customers will utilize Voice Configuration Packages (VCPs/) to configure voice settings for all Telephone Numbers.

Taking Advantage of E.164 Formatting
As a first step in upgrading to the Universal Platform - current Bandwidth customers can take advantage of E.164 formatting for their phone numbers. This will allow you to format your phone numbers in a consistent manner across all Bandwidth APIs and services.
Your existing credentials will authenticate with the v2 API and you can begin upgrading to the Universal Platform by following the steps in the E.164 Upgrade Guide.
Upgrading to a Universal Platform Account
To fully upgrade to the Universal Platform, you will need to create a new Universal Platform account. This will allow you to take advantage of the new features and improvements in the Universal Platform.
With a Universal Platform account - the Locations (SipPeer) APIs will no longer work to cofiigure voice settings for groups of numbers and they have been replaced with Voice Configruation Packages (VCPs). You can learn more about VCPs in the Create a VCP Guide.

Existing Bandwidth Customers on the Legacy Global Platform (formerly Voxbone)
Legacy Global (Voxbone) customers will be given access to a Universal Platform account and will be able to take advantage of the new features and improvements in the Universal Platform.
